Casino operator technical requirements

Technical standards are in place for all:

  • poker machines
  • table games
  • monitoring systems
  • other equipment involved in the conduct of gaming at Melbourne Casino.

Technical standards ensure all gaming products and systems at Crown operate with integrity through conditions that apply to:

  • harm minimisation
  • maximum bet limits
  • player information
  • fairness, security, reliability and auditability
  • support of responsible gaming, and
  • minimising criminal influence.

Poker machine technical standards

We must approve all poker machines before they're installed in the casino, as part of the Gambling Regulation Act 2003.

To be approved, the poker machines have to comply with these Commission’s standards:

The Technical Requirements Document (TRD) provides information about:

  • system-related requirements for the Monitoring System
  • Jackpot Systems
  • Table Games
  • Bonuses & Promotions, and
  • related gaming equipment for use in the Melbourne Casino.

The TRD will aid in testing and assessing gaming equipment, including monitoring systems. The TRD will be considered in addition to any other legislative requirements.
