Venue operators are no longer required to record and reconcile hard meter readings for electronic gaming machines.
Hard meters are on every electronic gaming machines and calculate increases to the game play activity of the machine.
Improvements in the reliability and frequency of data recorded by the electronic monitoring system on gaming machines, supports manual hard meter recordings no longer being required to be performed by venue operators. Not having to record this data manually reduces the administrative burden for venue operators.
The Commission’s decision to remove the requirement was informed following consultation with key stakeholders at the end of 2019.
An updated version of the Accounting and Auditing Venue Requirements with these changes included, is now available, see: Accounting and Auditing Venue Requirements.
