At regular intervals we undertake a thorough review of the casino’s operations to determine Crown Melbourne Ltd’s continued suitability to hold the casino licence.

As part of these reviews, we are required to investigate and form an opinion on:

  • the casino operator’s suitability to hold the licence
  • its compliance with Victorian gambling laws and regulations
  • its compliance with a collection of transaction documents relating to the casino and the casino complex.

We must also determine if it is in the public interest for Crown Melbourne Ltd to hold the licence, with regard to public confidence and trust in the credibility, integrity and stability of casino operations.

Each review includes recommendations that Crown is required to implement. We then monitor and assess that implementation.

Reviews are usually conducted every 5 years. However, the next full review will occur in 2027 after the Commission decides on Crown’s suitability in early 2024.
