Venue operators cop $60,000 fine

The VGCCC has collectively fined 3 venue operators $60,000 after patrons continued to play the pokies outside of the venues’ permitted gaming hours.

Poker machines must only be played during permitted gaming hours.

To assist venues to comply, venue operators can choose to opt in to the automatic poker machine enabling and disabling function, which is a free offering by Intralot Gaming Services. Many venue operators, 83 per cent, have opted in. This means poker machines automatically switch on and off in line with a venue’s permitted gaming hours.

The VGCCC closely monitors pokies play and we strongly urge venue operators to review their licence conditions and operating hours, and ensure they have processes in place to only allow pokies to operate during permitted gaming hours.

Breaches of permitted gaming hours are taken seriously and the VGCCC will take enforcement action, including fining venues.
