Gaming industry employee responsibilities
It’s different to Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG) training that all employees must complete. Like any licence, there are certain conditions and expectations you must adhere to if you hold a GIE Licence.
You must have a valid GIE licence if your duties include:
- any task that requires you to access the logic area* of a gaming machine at the premises of an approved venue – or supervising someone completing these tasks
- if you are the custodian of, or use keys that unlock the logic area of a gaming machine at the premises of an approved venue
- any task that requires you to access a restricted monitoring component such as an Interface board or a Slot Machine Interface Board – or supervising someone completing these tasks
- the installation, service, repair and maintenance of gaming and monitoring equipment – or supervising someone completing these tasks
- if you are working as a sole employee for a bingo centre operator
Licence conditions include:
- Notifying the VGCCC within 14 days of
- any change to your name or address
- the outcome of any litigation against you
- the commencement of any bankruptcy proceedings and/or
- any finding of guilt for any offence under statue or at common law (excludes minor traffic matters)
- not participating in gaming or bingo while on duty (this includes while on breaks) or when the venue is closed to the public
- every time you access the logic area of a machine or monitoring equipment, you must record the date, time, name and licence number of the person accessing the device, hard meter readings at the time of work - within a logbook. You must also include the reason for accessing the logic area/reason for work.
