Gambling venues must stay compliant when renovating

If you are renovating your gambling venue, you must remember the rules about providing rest areas and facilities outside of the green line area.

When renovating, gambling venues must ensure that patrons always:

  • have access to facilities, such as toilets or a smoking area without entering the poker machine area
  • if a venue has other gambling facilities such as Keno or TAB, these must be available outside the poker machine area
  • have a space available for a patron to take a break away from the poker machine area
  • be able to order and be served food and beverage without having to enter the poker machine area
  • be able to enter and exit your venue without having to go through the poker machine area.

Venues must remain compliant with the Commission Directions under section 3.5.27 (PDF, 87.79 KB) and obligations under the Responsible Gambling Codes of Conduct required by the Ministerial Direction, when they decide to close areas to repair or renovate.
