All electronic gaming machines are fitted with an Intralot Slot Machine Interface Board, known as a SMIB. This connects every operating machine to Intralot’s Central Monitoring and Control System and maintains the integrity of the machine’s operation. All gaming machines must have an unbroken seal. Machines with missing or broken seals should be removed from game play.
Only authorised technicians holding a Gaming Industry Employee (GIE) licence may install, repair or replace SMIBs. Technicians are required to ensure seals are securely attached to the SMIB seal before the gaming machine is returned to game play. We encourage venue operators to check the SMIB security seal has been correctly attached.
Any unauthorised person who attaches, removes or tampers with the SMIB faces penalties including a fine of up to $60,000 (400 penalty units), two years jail, or both.
