From 14 November 2022, all online bookmakers with customers in Victoria are required to send them monthly activity statements of their online betting account.

The new requirement stems from the Ministerial Direction dated 4 July 2022 relating to the National Consumer Protection Framework for Online Wagering. The purpose of the activity statement is to help customers easily track and monitor their online wagering activity.

What you are required to do

Supply activity statements to customers no later than 7 days after the end of each month. They can be either posted or emailed.

You don’t need to send an activity statement when a customer hasn’t made any transactions during the past month - unless it’s requested by the customer.

Make sure activity statements are in plain language so it can be easily understood.

Even if you are registered outside Victoria, you are required to send statements to Victorian customers.

What activity statements should include

  • Amount spent
  • Wins and losses
  • Number of bets placed
  • Overall net win/loss for the period
  • Opening and closing balances
  • Deposits and withdrawals
  • Account balance

It’s your responsibility to ensure activity statements comply with the Ministerial Direction.

We will monitor industry compliance with this new requirement, and soon start reviewing a sample of activity statements.
